Sweat In Training So You Never Bleed In Battle...
What I learned in 25 years working to develop elite athletes and high-level fitness enthusiasts...
As you get to elite status you feel something that evades average players. Finding the flow state (locked in, buzzin, zone) where things seem to slow down to where you are most confident and the most consistent is a top tier goal and an optimal performance state...definitely a state mind that is attached to a machine (your physical body).
The vicious cycle and the compound effect...
For average athletes this flow state can be unfamiliar, random, and rarely discussed...elusive for sure. You have to understand it to have any control over this optimal state of performance. When athletes get stressed or ridden with performance anxiety, they can easily become the victim self-sabotage which in turn annihilates performance and any chance at a positive compound effect.
In turn, they are prone to inconsistency and under-performing. They literally cannot achieve an advance towards full potential.
I call this athlete quicksand.
The other side...
A move to rapid growth takes time to develop a different set of skills. These may be lightly mentioned in locker rooms by well-intended coaches, but I equate it to your doctor telling you to eat right and exercise. What does that actually mean and how does that actually get achieved?
Tap in...
You have to tap into this on purpose to play at your best at every opportunity, and to do it all season long on purpose. Anyone can learn these performance skills. It is fairly simple, but not easy (from the grind up yah?).
If you are looking for a way to unlock your athlete's true potential, you need someone on your team that can help push the compound effect into growth (the compound effect goes both ways...remember the athlete quicksand).
The separation is truly in the preparation...
Someone with half your talent maybe working with twice your consistency...
Strength is what we gain from the madness we survive...
You never rise to the occasion. You sink to the level of your training and preparation.

Recognizing value is as important as judging talent.
Best predictor of the future is the past.
You need someone to see your value and talent.
You also need someone that is...
Tough and dependable...
That carries competitive stamina...
Is a what-you-see-is-what-you-get personality...
Is commitment to your growth and development...
Training vs Exercise…
✅ Design your training versus reacting to impulse
✅ Feed your focus. Starve distractions. Achieve total clarity on what you want.
✅ Create a ripple effect and build purposeful momentum. The wrong pressure is damaging. The right pressure makes diamonds.
✅ Meaningful progress beats burnout every time (incremental growth).
✅ Create a mission you can enjoy and will stay consistent with. Ongoing consistency can overtake talent. Hard work beats talent when talent fails to work hard.
